Dragon Septarian Sphere from South Africa

Septarian nodules are concretions that were formed out of Aragonite, Barite, Calcite, and Limestone around 50 – 70 million years ago. The name comes from the Latin' septum', referring to the cracks in the rock, while the alternative name Dragon Stone comes from a Malagasy legend which told of the dragons that used to roam the earth long ago, and when they died their bodies fossilized and remained in the earth.
