This extra-large palm stone weighs over half a pound. In low light, it has beautiful deep purple on the back. Purples are very shy to bright light.
Labradorite is feldspar that often has rainbow-colored flashes, called labradorescence. It is named after Labador, Canada, where it was first found, although it can be found in many countries, including Australia, the Adirondack mountains in New York, and most famously Madagascar. The most common colors for Labradorite are blue, green, and gold, with reds, pinks, and purples being a lot rarer. Gem quality Labradorite, called Spectrolite, can be found only in Finland, with a black base color and high contrast color flashes. "Spectrolite" from other countries is just high-quality Labradorite.
